WASHINGTON — Watchdog groups are calling for a revamp of congressional ethics rules after the House ethics panel exonerated a dozen lawmakers in two separate investigations.
Melanie Sloan, of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, said the ethics committee's recent actions prove Democratic leaders who pledged to clean up Washington by passing ethics rules "never meant it."
